EMDR-Based Trauma Recovery Intensives

Morristown Trauma Recovery Intensives offer an extended alternative to traditional weekly EMDR therapy. Rather than fitting trauma-focused work into a 50-minute session each week- often over months or years- an intensive dedicates several hours to treatment in a single session.

The evidence-based EMDR protocol is adapted to the intensive format, allowing treatment to unfold over a longer, uninterrupted period. This structure can provide continuity within a session and allow more time to engage with the issues you want to address.

Who Intensives Are For

Intensives may be appropriate for adults working through PTSD, complex or developmental trauma, difficult past experiences, or current challenges that are bringing longstanding patterns or symptoms to the surface.

If past experiences continue to affect how you feel, think, or respond in the present, an EMDR intensive may provide an opportunity to address those patterns in greater depth.

The Intensive Structure

Intensive schedules are designed around your needs and treatment goals. Half-day sessions are typically 3 hours, while full-day sessions are typically 7 hours and include a break.

A treatment plan may include a single half-day session or several full days. Every intensive includes a thorough intake and assessment, a follow-up session, and, with your permission, collaboration with your existing therapist or other clinicians.

Keep Your Current Therapist

Intensives can complement your existing therapy and other mental health support. They provide dedicated time for focused trauma work while allowing you to maintain the therapeutic relationships and support already in place. With your permission, I can also collaborate with your therapist or other clinicians as part of your care.

More About the Modalities

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps people process distressing experiences and reduce their ongoing emotional impact. EMDR is central to Morristown Trauma Recovery Intensives, with other approaches integrated as appropriate to support your individual needs.

This may include Internal Family Systems (IFS), a therapeutic approach that helps you understand and work with different parts of yourself, as well as somatic techniques that bring attention to how emotions and experiences are held and expressed in the body.

Meet the Therapist

Hi, I’m Kelly. I’m a trauma-focused psychotherapist with extensive experience working with adults affected by trauma, anxiety, mood disorders, and other complex mental health concerns.

My clinical experience includes work in domestic violence and sexual assault services, hospitals and intensive outpatient settings, critical incident response, and private practice. I’m trained in EMDR and hold advanced certification in trauma treatment.

I believe therapy works best when you feel both understood and challenged. I want you to feel safe and accepted enough to look at things from a different perspective and move in a new direction. My approach is warm, direct, and collaborative. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what is most useful for the person in front of me, while staying grounded in evidence-based practice. My goal is to flexibly support deeper processing, emotional regulation, and meaningful change.
